Autumn nutrition tips from Gemma Bes

Autumn is mushroom season, a time when the forest floor is full of mushrooms waiting to be discovered. It's a treasure hunt in nature, and the reward is earthy flavors in culinary delights. In addition, mushrooms have amazing medicinal properties and are nutritionally interesting foods. They are rich in B vitamins, vitamin D, enzymes, prebiotics, essential amino acids, natural antibiotics, some minerals such as selenium, copper and zinc, proteins and bioactive compounds, and stand out as great modulators of the immune system. Why not try the wonderful variations of mushrooms in our restaurant Beni Axir in Es Racó d'Artà?

Typical mallorcan mushrooms: "Esclata-sangs" and "Picatornells"

To create and maintain a healthy physiology our food must be nutritious, we must have a powerful and efficient digestion and elimination.

Ideal nutrition is achieved with a varied diet, deliciously prepared and consciously consumed. A balanced diet is essential. A diet that contains seasonal, local and unprocessed foods, with all macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). In addition to staying well nourished we must also be well hydrated.

It is essential to choose good quality foods, as their nutritional and biological values are directly related. From a nutritional point of view, it is useless to eat foods that only fill our stomach and are composed of empty calories.

Finally, we must be aware of the amount of food our body needs and try not to overeat. The practice of intermittent fasting is very beneficial to compensate for food excesses and, above all, to let our digestive system rest.

Apply common sense: listen to your body
Avoid what hurts
Always look for good QUALITY foods
Avoid processed foods
Don't miss essential nutrients
Eat when you're hungry and drink when you're thirsty
Eat in a QUIET ENVIRONMENT and insist on CHEWING well! Digestion starts at the mouth
Drink before and between meals
