During the last decades, both the island of Mallorca and many other tourist locations have been exploited in an exaggerated way without thinking about the consequences that this could bring to the economy, cultural evolution and social development. Losing ancestral production techniques, and the real essence of the place itself.
For this reason, at all times during the development of the Es Racó d'Artà project, we have thought of construction solutions that reduce energy consumption to a minimum, guaranteeing maximum comfort and using at all times local, natural, ecological and many other recycled materials, both for the construction and for everything intended for the consumption of our clients and workers.
We know that our efforts seem insignificant compared to the problems that await us in the future. Nevertheless, at Es Racó we try to do our part. For example, we avoid the use of plastic and use biodegradable or recyclable materials. We use geothermal and solar energy.
We also encourage the planting of native species in our orchard and garden to ensure biodiversity and maintain the bees, which play an important role in maintaining the ecosystem. In our SPA we use natural-ecological products, most of them produced in Mallorca. In the restaurant, we work with local suppliers who provide us with organic products as much as possible. We use ecological products for maintenance and cleaning.
The construction has been made adapting to the topography of the land, reducing to the maximum its impact on the environment.
The use of electrically activated compressors together with the use of inverter technology is associated with significant energy savings, making the system environmentally friendly due to the low use of primary energy and the absence of direct CO2 emissions to the environment.
The DAIKIN VRV system with heat recovery has high energy efficiency, with heat recovery, which will meet the needs for heating in winter, cooling in summer and domestic hot water throughout the year.
There is a BMS equipment management system for air conditioning/heating control of the rooms and common areas. The entire facility has contact detectors for air conditioning, presence detectors for lighting, and efficient lighting.
The spa building, in addition to being heated with geothermal energy, is fully integrated into the surroundings, adapting to the topography of the land on which it is located, minimizing its impact on the environment. A green roof has been installed throughout the building, a green roof in harmony with the rest of the vegetation and which makes the building almost imperceptible from the upper levels of the plot.
We recycle water from our cisterns in a filtering circuit up to three times, which ends up in our ecological garden irrigation system.
A gray water reuse system has been installed in the bedrooms. The cisterns are all double-flow cisterns.
For the love of the earth, we see sustainability as a cornerstone.
To be able to go back to taking care of our land and animals, to respect our environment, to re-educate ourselves and to give importance to local products and local agriculture, as well as to small producers, who, like us, respect the natural rhythms of nature and proudly give the importance it deserves to their beloved island.
Today is another day to try, once again, we have the opportunity to do it and if everyone would do something to fight climate change, we could finally make a difference.
